Paradise Vultures has existed in various iterations since 2017, when multi-instrumentalist Tommy Senter released the first EP, “Gourmet Carrion,” under the moniker. After various lineup changes, Paradise Vultures began its transition to its current lineup when Senter met drummer Matty Barreca in a North Hollywood Tiki Bar in 2020. The two bonded over their mutual love of drums and common musical influences and quickly became a powerhouse of rhythmic synergy, with Senter on bass and lead vocals and Barreca on the drum kit. After parting ways with their last guitarist, the pair decided to pare down the lineup to a two-piece and haven’t looked back since. Known for their engaging, dynamic live shows, the duo is equal parts sincere and cynically humorous onstage, with a focus on infectious melodies and effortlessly danceable grooves.
The duo's debut full-length record, Born to Lose, was released to widespread acclaim on November 28th, 2025. Written in the immediate aftermath of the tragic and harrowing loss of a lifelong parental figure to ALS, Born to Lose is a body of work just as complex as the grief and existential chaos that inspired it. The album is a 13-track odyssey of self-loathing, self-destruction and, ultimately, self-discovery. The album contains the singles Love is a Cancer, Bad Decisions, Tell Me I’m Pretty, Catacombs, Sister Kennedy, Misanthropocene, and Or Not To Be.The album was produced and mixed by Phil English (Biffy Clyro; St. Paul and the Broken Bones; Tank and the Bangas) at Eldorado Studios (Alice in Chains, Dirt; The Offspring, Americana; My Chemical Romance, The Black Parade) and features music videos directed by Ed Shiers (Papa Roach, Convey) and Nathan Cox (Eagles of Death Metal, Queens of the Stone Age, Marilyn Manson).
The duo’s upcoming second full length is not far behind Born to Lose. This upcoming record began production with a week of madness and wild creativity at the legendary Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, CA. Dave Catching’s mythical home studio has produced classic albums Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, and Mark Lanegan. The upcoming sophomore album is produced by Matt Cerritos (Holy Wars, Mr. Bungle) and is expected to begin releasing singles mid-2026.
